I got a speeding ticket for going 54 in a 30 mile zone. This place is deserted (11:00pm).

I live on Long Island New York, and need input on how to deal with the ticket.

Has anyone successfully plead not guilty and succeeded? (I don;t mean on a technicality)

I'm looking at 2 points on my license and 90$.

I'm broke enough as a college student.

Thanks

Why bother? It is OK to speed when the place is deserted.

Plead not guilty due to temporary insanity. Works every time for me.

Now, if I could just figure out how to get this damn jacket off and use my x-ray eyes to melt the bars on the window so I can get out of here.

LOL, if you are guilty, just pay it. Taking it to court and losing might cost quite a bit more.

This fundamentally comes down to, what is acceptable speed. Anyone with experience doing this?

Feel free to poke more fun, I actually laughed at

Just plead not guilty. They'll cut you a deal when you show up to court.

Worked for me. I was ticketed for 15 over (was really only doing 9). Showed up, pled not guilty, told the cop and "prosecutor" I was doing 9 not 15, they lowered it to 10 (the highest you can go without a higher fine and more points). Pled guilty paid my fine and went on my way.
