Need input from fellow college students

I'm in my 4th week at Ohio State... the drop deadline was a week ago...

I'm taking 24 credit hours right now. One of my courses is a history course (just a gen ed requirement course). I want to drop that so I have more time for research and work.

However, I also do not want a W on my transcripts.

There have been no grades yet (we only have one midterm and a final), so everyone has 0/0 in the class.

Think there's any chance an advisor will allow me to drop this course instead of withdraw? There are just much more productive things I could do during this time and I need to work more cuz I have to pay for summer courses myself 🙁

how are u just in the 4th week..is it tri semesters? Anyway..I know in my school...there is no getting around the deadline..they cant do anything about it.

You can petition the college, but if your reason is simply that you've taken too high of a course load then you will have to settle for a 'W' Also, why on God's green earth are you taking 24 hours in a semester?!?

I hope you're a freshman... Because if you've spent more than a year at college and don't know that anything over 20hrs is academic, social, and economic suicide, you're not saveable.

And just take the W. Nobody is going to care.

i'm applying to med schools tho.... a W is going to suck. I dont care much about the money... the reason isn't that I've taken too high a course load (i've taken 25 credit hours for the past 2 quarters), it's just now I have excellent research opportunities and I need to also put more hours in at work

Med school.... Sig.... Oh, okay. You're exempt from the suicide law of scheduling.

And a med school isn't going to care about a W if you tell them the fvcker was to make time for research.... If they care about a W in some crappy history course at all.
