I keep seeing all of these super deals for the Sony DSC-F828, but merchant says comes from Sony in Korea not Japan.... I would like to find out more about this model (such as what is included), since Sony did not know, nor did they know where to find out that information.

Also wanted to know if it is legal to ship the Korean product to US since, all Sony products in US are supposed to come from Sony Japan.... but once again Sony didn't know.

Hoping one of you all will know.

huh?

So it's a gray market import? Unless you get a killer deal on it, I suggest you pass on it, since there will be most likely be no warranty on it and do you really want to mess around when purchasing a $900 digital camera.

check places like Steve's or dpreview

I have seen it for about $550 online, but if I need to purchase all the other stuff, then will drive price up.

$550? Unless it's used or refurbed, then it's too good to be true.

What more do you need to purchase other than what's included (battery, charger, etc)? Maybe a memory card but that should be about it.

Well, that is the thing.... NOTHING is included to my knowledge, just the camera.... with no battery, charger, lens cap, lens hood.... :(

So, figured if I could find out that it does infact come with this stuff in the Korean model, I could dispute on my credit card...

AMEX will give money back IF I can show them a printed ad (non-internet), with lower price after I bought it, however, I have only seen these sleazy low-priced deals online, so as I do not think this will help me :(

In most cases yes... .but decided on the 828 for a few reasons:

1.) video is better on the 828
2.) Multiple storage options (CF, microdrive)
3.) 717 is discontinued

I know that the 828 supposedly has 'purple fringing' and that color thing, but seems as though that is only at high resolution and printing very large..... usually I downgrade for the web, but figured that if I can get the 717 for about $475 at Circuit City (see another AT posting).... but pay about $150 more and get these added features that I would go for the new one, and if I don't like it, post it on e-bay and make my money back. :)

I have the Mavica MVC-FD92 and it is super, but lacks the SLR-like features..... but extremely happy with the quality of these pics.... took about 3000 pics so far, and about the same with the first digicam being the Sony MVC-FD90 (back in the days when I actually wanted to store on floppy... silly me)
