anyone have any information on the xerox phaser printers? My office is looking to get a laser color printer to do newsletters and such, and so far I've heard good things about this printer. How much is the cost per page color, the color quality, and any other info u might have on it. Thanks!

I have one. I don't print quite enough to give you all the stats (compared to other printers), but it sure blows away inkjet ! The other thing I like, is no comsumables except ink and a maintenance tray. Color is great, speed is great. I think their Web site has more details. Mine compares to the 8400, except mine is networked and duplex, and maybe a few more things (I have an 850 DP). They also carry regular laser printers as well as these solid ink printers. The 780 (if they still make that) is the best tabliod quality printer I have ever seen, and at $8000, it better.

PM me with more details, and I can answer when I get home.

A phaser is a heck of a color printer, though it isn't laser. It uses solid ink blocks, which is a similar texture to crayons. The prints are super clear and sharp. You need to use their ink though. I used to work at a place that serviced them, and the cheap non xerox ink would plug the jets. The print head was like $1700 to replace, which is more than the printer cost. The cheap ink also voids the warranty. You need to leave them on all the time. Every time you shut it off and turn it on, it takes a half a stick of ink. It has a good power save mode. You can't move them when they were recently on. The ink is heated in a well, and moving it hot can slosh the ink out, and that really gums the works up. We sold alot of them and I think most customers were pretty happy. I'd get as much warranty as possible. If they do break down, it can get spendy.
