These was pulled from Dell 4600's.

128MB Radeon 9800 Pro
(1st line) "Samsung 416"
(2nd line) "K4D263238E-GC2A"
(bottom) "WVC305PZA KOREA"

128MB Radeon 9800 (non Pro)
(1st line) "Samsung 319"
(2nd line) "K4D26323RA-GC2A"
(bottom) "WFC416FA KOREA"

Can anyone confirm whether these have 128bit or 256bit memory? Is this good stuff or not? Overclocking potential? Any info is greatly appreciated.

256-bit 9800s have L-shaped memory arrangement (2 RAM chips above the GPU, and 2 chips right of the GPU, viewed from front), the RAM chips are BGA.

128-bit 9800s have the memory arranged in a straight line (4 RAM chips are all above the GPU, viewed from front), and the RAM chips are usually TSOP.

Those are both 256-bit cards I'm 95% sure.

Both of them have the good 2.8ns Samsung memory (which is indicated by the -GC2A line). I had a 9800 non -pro with GC33 (3.3ns) memory that was a great overclocker (the memory was a bad o/cer until I bought RAMsinks for it, then it was excellent).

That is most definately BGA memory too, they don't have 2.8ns TSOP memory.

So, unless it's a 9800SE (which it isn't, as evident by the names), those are both 256-bit cards, and are probably the same card in appearance and functionality, the only difference being the clockspeeds of the 9800np being lower by default (but since it has the faster memory it probably has the same fast core as well).

So, that looks to be one of the 9800 non pro's that runs fine at 9800 Pro speed with a quick BIOS flash (just like my old 9800np).

I'd go for the 9800 Pro if the prices are close; if the 9800 Pro is a significant premium over the 9800np, get the non-pro because it will probably overclock to similar speeds in the end 🙂 .
