Need info on "safely remove hardware" icon in tray.

I don't like this icon in my tray. The two USB devices it is showing, I will never unplug. Any suggestions out there?

Neither do I . The only solution I found to get rid of it, if you wanna call it that, is to hide it via "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties".

I believe it is a product of the service (Shell Hardware Detection, I believe) that coordinates the connections of usb devices. You can disable it, but then you'll have to enable it to connect another device.

Edit: I seem to remember something in Group Policy (gpedit.msc), that allows you to turn off "System Tray Notification of Hardware Events" or something like that.
