Need Indian food help

I have a recipe that calls for garam masala.
I know it's a blend of dry spices but there are soo many different recipes for it
that i don't know which one to use. Each one has some variation of spices.

Is there a traditional standard list of spices I should go by?

garam garam masala . . . yum!

what you making with it?

It's a spicy potato / garbonzo bean soup

OMG, i had that for dinner a couple days ago

i forgot what its called in india though . . . .

Whatever it is, sounds delicious.

My favorite Indian cart closed 🙁 fortunately there are others nearby.

The closest thing is AALO CHANNA with lot of gravy. But it is usually in main course. So I am not sure what soup is he trying to cook.

OP, if you run to Indian store, you will find ready made spices labelled GARAM MASALA by EVEREST or MDR. They are pretty good.

Man I do not know what is in Muhkney(sp?) Chicken, but I had some for Christmas and it was really really good.

Curry and some masalas?

Sounds okay but bit expensive. Are you looking for gourmet spices or just regular spices?

^^^ To original poster

the little bottle they sell would probably last me a lifetime, so it's not soo bad.

I only need 1/4 tsp. for this recipe
