Need ideas to fix attic ladder

Anyone have any cheap ways of fixing this ladder? The top of the bottom section has broken off. See pic.

If you can take the tread rods off, replace the side rail. Otherwise, the bottom ladder.

That's the joint where the ladder folds.

Go to home depot or lowes etc... They have attic ladder kits. You may have to replace the entire thing unless individual parts are available

Actually, go to the local good will/habitat and buy an old ladder. Cut what you need off and screw it to the hinges.

I don't believe the individual components can be purchased separately. (Had to replace a rung on the bottom but ended up building a piece myself. However, far less work than having to replace the whole side rail like in your case)

Unless you want to get some wood and drill holes/notches yourself, you may have to buy a whole new ladder kit. Starts around $100+ if I remember correctly.

The top of the side rail broke where the hinge connects.
