Since this has to go from our office to the client instead of client to office. I am looking at maybe using pcanywhere with only the remote server installed on the clients.

I would prefer a hardware based solution that costs under $100. all the hard solutions I can think of start around $200.

reason: We currently use a third party citrix host to everyone log into and the clients run their applicatino and we can log in whenever we want. I was recently contacted by the software manufactuer about us violating their licensing by using the software in this manner. (despite assurances by the citrix host that they had agreements with the maker). I have a feeling the host is about to be sued out of existance and need to find a way to get acess to the client data files.

Why don't you guys just setup a windwos 2000 or 2003 terminal server box running in application mode. You can than use remote desktop to vpn tho the terminal server. Also what type of firewall do you use you could check out astaro at www.astaro.com or smoothwall these are linux based firewalls that come with vpn ability.

if you want simple and cheap try VNCremote... there are secure tunnel versions available ... and the cost is $0 unless you want to buy a t-shirt or make a donation...

the problem is it's not many vpn-clients connecting to us at one location, it's us (from 1 location) connecting out to many computers running win 98/me/2000/xp

xp pro does the rdp thing nicely but that is a small percentage of our customers.

I love vnc but am not sure how "secure" it is
