Need ideas for a updrade

At the moment I have a GeForce 3 and was waiting to get something better but nothing to new that its going to make me go broke.

Most of the games I play are RTCW, HL, SimCity4, Unreal, UT.

This will be going into a KT333 / amd 2400+ system.

I was thinking of getting a FX 5600 but a lot of people have said to get a TI 4200/4400 instead. I'm also not sure if I want to get a ATI card since Iv had nothing but nvidia cards since the TNT days.

Id say the most I would want to spead is $130-$150 including shipping.

Suggestions on what card to get and where online I should go looking for the lowest price?

Ti4200 is slightly faster than a FX5600 Ultra without AA/AF enabled, and the FX5600 Ultra is faster than the Ti4200 with AA/AF enabled.

For reference, using a 2.4c, 512mb PC3200 with 3dmark2001se, I scored

11,300 with a FX5600 Ultra 400/800 flip chip version

11,100 with a Ti4200 @ stock speeds.

However either card isn't exactly substantially faster than your Geforce 3 in older games, and without AA/AF enabled. For your budget if you can still find one, a Radeon 9500pro might be your best bet.

Is that CPU overclocked?

On my 2.4C @ 3.1 GHz with a Ti4200 overclocked to 300/600, I got 13,500 3dmarks.

Your Geforce 3 is plenty for games you play. You won't notice a difference by wasting $130-150 on a new card.
