My fiancee and I are going to be on our honeymoon, going to the bahamas, for the first two nights though we will be staying in Miami. We are on a bit of a budget, so we want to get the nicest hotel we can for around $150 a night. I have never been to Miami so I don't have a clue what areas to look in and what hotels are nice. Expedia etc.. are overwhelming, I need some suggestions!

Help me oh great ATOT.

$150/night & luxury is going to be tough in Miami for a honeymoon.

Try Miami Beach, but not South Beach :North of 20th St & up. The expressway bridge from the city & airport is about 40th St.

If you are not beachfront, you've got a chance.

I was there for the Orange Bowl, for those few days $150 would have been a chain by the airport or whatever hotel @ the hard rock cafe casino.

Well, when I say luxury, I mean... nice. I don't want a crappy hotel, but honestly my fiancee and I are very easy going people. I'd prefer it to be a little more quiet than some of the south beach party hotels. We won't be going to clubs or anything like that.

I strongly suggest checking the hotel deal sights, including ones that discuss new openings. There have been a good deal of hot deals in Miami due to the season and all-around lower tourism.

Understood. I didn't spend much time pricing Miami itself. I wanted to be very near a beach.

Miami Beach island was very residential the farther north I saw. The serious South Beach Party zone was around 15th. I stayed around 40th st. It was quiet.

There could be something that fits your budget in that area or a bit more north. It would be block or two off the beach, & not "full service". You might have to go off site for food, or have a highly romantic pizza delivered to the lobby.

Also, congratulations.

I've done quite a bit of consulting work down in Miami and I think your best bet is to go on priceline.com and do a "Name Your Own Price". I've stayed in some very nice hotels for $150/night thanks to that!
