Alright guys

What would the best AMD motherboard be for this setup.
Its my first AMD build so i not very familiar with there mobo's

socket 939
PCI 16X express looking at getting the ati x700 or ati x800
dual channel ram capabilities
- Quiet fan
i dont want a mobo with a fan that is So F**king loud..

probably a nforce 4 chip set,

What do u recommand.. oh i am not big fan of DFI prove me wrong if they make good mobo's

DFI makes as good a board as any other company. They are definetly in the top 5. But if your that reluctant, go with Asus or MSI.

As for your vid card choice, do NOT get the x700. If thats the price range you want, then you would be much happier with a Geforce 6600GT.

Right now nForce4 is the only chipset released for PCI-E on AMD64.

The DFI board is probably the best. I love my Asus.

You can get SLI or Ultra chipset. Cant go wrong with either in my opinion.

Get the x800 Pro dont waste time with the x700, you will be sorry!

I would agree to go 6600GT, x800 Pro or above.

Or buy a system like mine 😛 it is blazing fast.

Get the DFI motherboard. You can read the review at Anandtech.com

As far as your video card choice, get a 6600GT. You can also read the reviews of the 6600GT, x700, x800 at Aandtech.com too.

getting the dfi sli board might be a problem cus no one has it in stock so if sli isn't really important to you or won't be inthe future, dfi's other nforce4 mobos have the same performance. asus is always good. gigabyte's nfc4 boards are also supposed to be good (same performance whether ultra or sli). definitely read the anandtech dfi review. and read as many reviews as you can of the other boards from different sites to get a good perspective. you'll find that they all have pretty much the same basic features like raid, sound, dual channel, pci-e, lan and stuff. gonna run stock? oc?
