I need a small, semi-portable LCD monitor with a high resolution (1920x1080), but I'm having trouble finding one. 24" is too big; I'm looking for something more in the 20" range. It's for use with my video camera, which has HDMI output, so I need either DVI or HDMI input on the LCD. Any suggestions?

Edit: Looks like standard resolution for 1080p monitors is 1920x1200, which will work too.

If they make screens of that size at that resolution, they're not very common from what I've seen.

Yeah, good luck. I don't know of any 22 inch LCDs that do 1080p. If you can find one, it would probably be a TV, and not specifically a monitor. Not that there's really that much difference..l.

So, you're planning on having an LCD to help you pull focus, I assume?

A great choice :)

such screens are limited to laptops.
they just don't bother making them for desktop as far as i know. its just easier to sell regular consumers on size than resolution. i'm sure if you do find one it will cost too much to justify.

Yup, that's pretty much it. I picked up the Canon HV20 this month and LOVE it! I'm doing the focus wheel mod when I get back from vacation (foam model airplane wheel), which will help with the human interface when using manual focus. As far as pricing goes, the 24" LCDs are down to like $350, which isn't bad at all, but it's kind of big to lug around from place to place, plus I'd need a bigger tripod to mount it on since they weigh a lot more than the smaller LCDs.

There are smaller 1080P LCDs that some HV20 owners are using, but they run about $400...for that price why not just buy the 24" and deal with lugging it around? I won't be doing a lot of outdoor shooting so I don't necessarily need it to be run off a battery, and right now I don't want to spend upwards of $800 on a small 1080P LCD with a battery and have to build a custom case and whatnot.
