Lets start from the begining.....This started about a month ago, my friend got a Shuttle AK35GTR, 1800+, and SK6 hsf. He put it all together and right from the start it wouldnt post. Lights and fans would come on, but thats it. He determined that the processer was bad and he sent it back to Newegg. Processer #2....I think it booted for like 10 seconds and it to died. Mean while, he gets a brand new Enermax 350wt PSU.....maybe that was the problem?...nope... WTF??? another dead one???? What would the odds be? Desided that processer #2 was bad, just like his luck . Processer #3, he brought it over to my house, we tested it out on my motherboard and it worked great. I have the same combination mobo and processer, just a differant hsf. He took processer #3 to his house and what do you think happened.....TOAST!!!! Ok, now everybody is thinking that there has to be something wrong with this motherboard. It must not be handling the voltage correctly or what ever...its crap. Sent motherboard #1 and processer #3 back to Newegg. Few days later, a new Shuttle AK35GTR and 1800+ processer arrives. Guess what....FREEZE UPS!!!!.......LOCKUPS!!!!....same stupid sh!t. Ok.....now the three of us get together at pschub's house. Pschub has managed to get it to run through the bios, but it freeze's up everytime, Temps seem to skyrocket fast up to around 50c+....and we try to brainstorm what the problem might be. I was thinking that the only things on his sytem that have been the same the whole time was the memory and the heat sink. So, with my PC siting next to his, I pull his and my ram out , put mine in and the same thing happened. So....we take my heatsink off put it on his and WOW!!!, ran through the bios, temps stayed at around 40c.......it went to windows just great, we let it sit for a long while....it was cool, IT WAS WORKING FINE!! Mean while, I was looking at the bottom of the SK6 heatsink and were the die sits underneath it, only half of it had artic silver on it. So I thought that maybe the heatsink was warped and it was only making partial conatact with the die. I ran my finger along the bottom of it, and it did feel warped to me. We got the PC back to Globalempires house and, uhh, blue screens of death...windows protection error's galore. It sat in the bios just fine, temps stayed reasonable, but it did not like windows. I must say this, we have checked the obvious....and between the three of us we probably have built at least 100 computers, so we are not exactly boneheads. And Newegg has been AWSOME!!!! Anyway....this is about what has happened in the last month... ALSO REFER TO THIS THREAD>>>> AMDMB THREAD
