Need help !

I have an Asus A7M266 Mobo, I decided to add the blue orb VGA fan to my northbridge, So I did. I also added arcticSilver 2. Now when I turn my computer on, nothing displays, but it beeps. About one second long beeps in a endless loop. I was told that maybe I fried the Mobo, but I dont get how I did that. I just replaced a fan and added AS II, which I heard was perfectly fine to do. Can somebody please give me answers. your help is greatly appreciated.

Well, I think it could be a problem with the fan RPM-reader on your motherboard. My A7V wouldnt read the fan RPM values from my Blue Orb. I think that you have the same problem and that the board refuses to start up if it doesnt detect a fan on the northbridge. I can only suggest that you turn of the fan monitoring for the northbridge in the bios. See if it starts up with the older fan. Also check that you didn't accidentily knock the AGP card a bit out of the slot. It could also cause the computer to make beeping noises.

Good luck,
Gogga

For an Award BIOS that code means a memory error; possibly try to reseat the RAM. However sometimes you get BIOS beep codes just because the board is bad. I would start from scratch and remove, then reseat all your items and try again. This would include the CPU. Probably won't cure your problem, but at least help to further narrow it down.
