720p?

I am basically nagging the hell out of him telling him to save his money. a nice Samsung 46'' or 50"DLP would be killer.

Definetely go DLP, Plasma is crap and will break. Ask him if he'd rather spend $1500 now, and have to replace it in 3-5 years, or spend more now and have something that will last.

He's not considering Plasma. He did a HT job for someone and didn't like it.

For $1500 check out craiglist.com
I am sure you can find a decent price on a used one someone has to see because they are moving.

We bought a 55" HDTV 1080i JVC from samsclub last year for $1300, and it rocks. It has a built in HDTV Tunner Wide Screen. You better check out SamsClub.

Overall it is supposed to have great internals and a 1080p upsca, ler that is to die for

the f series sucks..the S is the line to go for..dont bother with the rest.
contrast ratio is far superior to dlps..cause its a crt and dlps havent gotten there yet
i went to purchase the dlp and saw the hitachi sitting next to a dlp..both playing lord of the rings and discovery channel hd..the hitachi blew it away...seriously..if u dont mind the weight..get the hitachi..pm me and ill answer any questions on it or any other tv u may be looking at

Prices are going down by summer (at least 35%) if you can wait
<-- has a friend who works at FutureShop/Best Buy

dont waste your $$$ on one with a built in tuner, it is pointless. every cable service offers a cable box with a tuner built in for like $5/mo. the built in tuner is a waste now a days.

teh sexay.

damn. I sort of maybe kind of somewhat convinced him to wait and think more about a DLP.

He doesn't want to save and want to spend immediately, but I continuously tell him, what's the point of even spending that much money if yo ucan't even display 1 of the two types of HD resolutions?

I totally understand what you mean, but it was based solely on the capabilities and nothing else.

That said, with a built in tuner + Satellite guys antenna, we could get like 20HD channels for free:evil:

or you could save the $200 and get it w/out a tuner and buy an HD antenna for $50.

Umm, you still need a tuner box or built in tuner to display HD signals...

d'oh...I was talking about the s and never bothered to see what I was cutting and pasting from CC. THe S model is the one with the 1080p scaler and the nicer lenses🙁

yep..also has photomic compatibilities..only thing dlp has over my tv..besides weight...is no burn in, and computer monitor crispness(all crts suck on that)..otherwise my hitachi pwns a dlp.

although just for the comp monitor part id take a dlp over my hitachi

He'll be plugging a HTPC into it🙁

I think I got him to calm down and hold off on it for now. He'll get about a $300 discount for something if he goes with CC, so I told him that going with the 50'' Sammy DLP would be worth it.
