After having a few problums with the ASUS A8V deluxe i had to RMA the motherboard, BUT Asus let me keep their wireless 802.11G wireless card, and i just happened to buy a netgear MR814 v2 a few days ago. Strange things have happened since i tried setting it up. My wireless card does not detect any signs of the netgear router. I know the card is in range because they are only 10-12 meters apart at the most. Ive tried almost everything now. I have even tested out the reouter on a laptop with built in wireless. It works perfectly with everything else, but the asus card cant pick up the netgear routers signal. I have made sure it was configured perfectly down to the advanced configuration, i cant figure out whats wrong.

Do you have the router broadcasting the SSID? if not, the network probably won't show up on any new cards - it doesn't on mine (same router, SSID not broadcast, and 128-bit WEP enabled). Here's what I have to do (running XP Pro with sp2):

1. open the "network connections" control panel, find the wireless connection, right-click on it and select properties.

2. there should be 3 tabs: General, Wireless Networks, and Advanced. Click on the 2nd one.

3. in the "preffered networks" box, click on the add button.

4. on the Association tab - the only one you *should* have to change anything on - type in the SSID, click ok, and see if that works. If it doesn't, WEP may be enabled. Find out what the WEP key is, come back here, clear the "the key is provided" checkbox, and enter the key into the two fields. that might do it. I have to do both of them, since WEP is enabled.

Nope. I got it broadcasting the ssid, and the connection is open right now. Still working on it, still no response.
