I have a DELL Dimension 8100 1.5 gigahertz, and I want to get more ram. My parents are complaining. But what the problem is, is that this RAMBUS ram is very expensive. So I was thinking if possible, to take out the CPU from my current motherboard and put it in a new motherboard. If this is possible, please respond and I would be grateful if you could tell me which motherboard to get.

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe Dell's use custom power supplies, so you will need a new power supply as well.

you are half right
they formerly used custom psu, and mobo's. but not anymore

a good way to check it is to get a multimeter and test the psu.

Dell motherboards in their desktop systems are a custom form factor because of their cases. You will not be able to put a regular motherboard in a Dell case (most likely, unless you do some modification, then it "might" work). You just need to keep in mind the price of adding more rambus memory to the system or the cost of getting a new mobo/case/ram setup.
