hey everyone,
i just finished building a system for my friend. it boots just fine until it actually boots to the hard drive, i get an error message "a disk read error occured press ctrl+alt+del to restart" is there anything im doing wrong here? or is there something wrong with the hard disk?...the hard disk has windows xp pro installed in it, maybe thats the problem? should i have a fresh install of windows?...much needed replies, thanx everyone.

that or you have your hdd setup wrong. I get this when i try to do DMA 4 and on this mobo/setup i can only do dma3 .

You need a fresh install. Windows cannot cope with a mobo change.

or if you want to save all your old settings you can run a repair (an over-install)
what OS was it ?
