I am not sure if I have a bad processor or a bad power supply. When I press the power button on my computer nothing happens. Everything is plugged in. I took the large power connector that plugs into the motherboard from the power supply and pulled it out. As I was plugging it back in, I noticed the HSF was spinning slightly and the hard drive light was lit for a split second. Don't some motherboards beep when you have a bad CPU or if it isn't plugged properly or not present? I even took the CPU out and tried turning on the computer. Nothing happened. I unplugged all of the devices from the power supply except the motherboard and nothing happened. Would a dead processor do this? Would a power die from overclocking? What is the likely hood that the motherboard died instead of the processor itself? I just don't get it... Any ideas?

What PSU do you have?

What motherboard?

What CPU?

My first thought would be its the motherboard thats a gonner, can you try the PSU with another setup?

Cheers,
Dan

Ok I narrowed down the problem by one component. It's not the PSU(300 watt BTW). I took the PSU, a stick of ram, and an old motherboard with an 800Mhz celeron/mobo w/onboard video and tested the PSU. It fired right up and the weird thing is that I have had that motherboard stored in a box for about a year or so because the video card was so screwed up on it I couldn't even see the bios screen. When I tested it a few minutes ago, the picture was perfectly clear! The only problem though is that for some reason the motherboard thought the processor was a 400Mhz celeron and I know for a fact it is not. The multplier was even set to 4.0 so oh well. It's not the PSU. I hope it is not the motherboard...

Sorry, I didn't really answer your question... I have an FIC AZ11e board with an 850Mhz Thunderbird.
