Need Help With XP Repair

Okay, I recently had to replace some parts in my computer, (new mobo, CPU, memory), and I am trying to boot XP, I've done the repair installation - enter first then R for repair, no recovery console - and after the computer is done copying files it tries to start windows and gives me a blue screen...

STOP : 0x0000007E

I can get into safe mode, but it kicks me out before letting me really do anyting, saying setup cannot continue in safe mode.

Any help is greatly appriciated!

Remove the drive and backup everything to something else. Format and do a clean install. You can thank me later when you don't have to deal with an unstable windows install. Trust me, it is not worth it!

This is not that answer you are looking for but you are going to waste more time trying to fix this now than doing what I have suggested. Do it right the first time.

Yeah, I figured that's what needed to be done. I was able to find an old cd around and got to a command line.. backed up some useful stuff onto a small HD.
I'll live.
