Of course the new hdd doesn't work when the modchip is off. You can't change harddrives w/o a modchip working.

Contact me on AIM. You are horrible at asking for help. Everyone is trying to help but they can't because you are making them work to help you.

But doesn't using the hacked MS BIOS violate the DMCA? :)

Let's not forget that EvoX is illegal to download or use in compiled form since it was compiled with the official MS Xbox SDK.

tsk tsk tsk

Good luck getting it working though!

go away, both of you.

Awww, I really did mean the good luck part though.

well, i flashed the bios to the new evo-x so it would support >137gb, and now it is broken. the xbox still works in retail mode, but the modchip is FUBARed. i did everything the instructions said to do, but it seems others are having this problem as well. it turns on, off, on, off, on, and then FRAGs (error). DAMN IT.

It won't ever work with more than 137GB. I've had people "claim" that it does, but it still doesn't. I have a 160 in mine and it shows no more than 137GB with the newest everything.

Plus use the damn harddrive in your computer and store the shows on there. It'll be infinately more useful there unless you happen to be storing entire media libraries on your xbox. Plus, the drive will turn on more with the xbox, so it'll die WAAAAAAAAAAY sooner.

Then your doing something wrong if your only seeing 137 gig. F: can hold 137 gig but then you have to format a g: to hold the rest of your 160 gig. I have done it myself so your "claims" of it never working are wrong. I did it on a applex v chip which has a old modified m7 bios I guess.

yeah it definitely works with more than 137gb. some guys online sent me some pics of their system and they have 300gb WD drives in theirs. F: is 137gb, the rest gets dumped into G:

i bought a programmer so i can reflash the bios. i guess my problem is solved! if anyone reading this needs slayers auto install or x-disk, i have them both and they make this whole ordeal a lot easier.

Is this a xecuter 2.3 based chip? I bought a programmer trying to flash it back to life. Lets just say the 2.3 ended up in the garbage (where it belongs) and a cheap, works everytime, apple is in there. I'll sell you the programmer cheap. I don't need it anymore.

you are the first person i have ever heard slam the 2.3

so far i have only heard good things about it...especially the 2.3b. if you are talking about the 2.3a, you may be correct, but the 2.3b lite+ is a winner. it has a lot of the same features as the pro and the xentium (sp?), but its solderless and actually stays in the correct spot once it is screwed down. you may have had a bad experience, but it is a good mod chip. plus, the programmer was $5 + $3.85 for shipping and it is USB enabled. pretty good deal i thought.

Look through all the fragging problems mentioned on the xbox scene and see if its such a great chip. Xecuter has such old technology its funny. It has an addon pcb to turn on and switch banks when better methods have been out for a long while on how to do that. The dumb thing has a wicked grounding problem and needs like 4 seperate wires run to ground to work properly. Where did you get that programmer so cheap? I never have seen one that will do it that cheap, older ones to do the old xecuter yes but not the 2.3. I solder all mine in because I heard horror stories of people having to open the box once a month to adjust it so I'm glad they got that fixed.

The Xecuter2 Lite mod chip that we demonstrated in part one of this series supports hard-drive capacities of up to 140GB. I selected the Maxtor 120GB hard drive. It was priced right.

taking from tech tv.

Most frags are from installation errors very rarely does a bad chip cause a frag. I've fragged plenty of boxes and all of them were from user error. To say that the xecuter causes the frag is kinda far fetched. Its almost always a bad solder or bad flashI'm not saying the xecuter is a perfect chip and now there are chips with some nice options, but for the basic user an xecuter is going to work just fine. The only feature I'd like is to be able to turn the chip on and off from the controller on boot, and most people don't mod their controller so they need to be at the box to turn it on and off anyway, and can flip the switch when they are there. They did have that grounding problem for a bit, but it was fixed within a few weeks of release and they offered a replacement for free. I'm not an xecuter fanboy, but don't say the chips are causing frags.

lol dude you are crazy. it works with any size hard drive now. when you are downloading the bios for your mod chip, there are several to choose from, and they all say <137gb or >137gb. i doubt they would put >137gb if the max was 140gb. plus, tons of people at the xbox-scene forums talk about the 160's, 200's, even a few 250's and 300's. sorry, techTV is wrong.
