I have a network with 6 systems and one server connected with a hub. I have a DSL connection for internet which is shared using winproxy 5.0. But the problem is that MSN Messenger doesn't login. and Yahoo Messenger frequently gets disconnected.
I set the proxy setting in both the messengers. But it didn't work.

What should I do?
Please help.

This could happen for a number of reasons:

1. Check the PC running Winproxy when you lose the connection. Make sure it still has an active connection through your DSL provider and has not shut down the line.
2. Are you running Explorer on the Winproxy PC? If so, make sure it is not set to shut down the line when exitted.
3. Make sure all of the PC's behind the proxy server have unique machine names. If they are using static IP's, make sure they are all different.
4. Make sure another system doesn't have the same login name on MSN and Messenger as the PC losing the connection.

You might try to run a continous PING from the Winproxy PC to some public Internet Address and see if you lose connection during that time. (The PING will keep the DSL connection up while you wait for the MSN and Messenger to timeout) FI the programs stay up, then for some reason your DSL line is dropping you.

Pages 100-114 in the Winproxy manual explain how to make Firewall settings in the product.

If it turned out your messenger still drops, check your persistent connections settings in Winproxy. Make sure you make Winproxy keep your DSL line active.
