Need help with Windows XP Activation

Well, just like the title says, I need help with the Windows XP activation.

Does anyone know of any magic utility where you type in the code given in the 'telephone a representative' screen, and they it automatically generates the code that you type into the boxes given? If you have never seen the activation window, you probably don't know what I am talking about.

I have a totally legal Windows XP, it's just that after I updated my BIOS I had to activate it again, and I do not have wireline internet on the computer with the problem(the automated phone thing doesn't recognize what I say). I have a perfectly working SN and activation ID, so anyone help?

True, I forgot to mention that bit.

I post via wireless PC card on my laptop, there is obviously no PC card slot on my desktop, which needs to be activated.

I sent an email to Microsoft concerning the problem (of course I did not ask them for a generator)

Try this:
How to activate Windows XP by phone
To contact a Microsoft customer service representative to activate Windows by phone, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click Activate Windows.

Or, click the Windows Activation icon in the notification area.
2. Click Yes, I want to telephone a customer service representative to active Windows now.
3. Click Read the Windows Product Activation Privacy Statement, click Back, and then click Next.
4. Follow the steps in the Activate Windows by phone dialog box, and then click Next.

Note The number appears now and differs based on the location that you select.
5. When activation is completed and you receive the following message, click OK.
You have successfully activated your copy of Windows.

Probably illegal.

A real telephone is your best bet.

yeah, I have had to call the number a time or two, and if it didn't work (one time) it was a quick 2 minutes or less with a live person to activate. If it doesn't recognize what you say, I thought it would go to a live person anyway.

I'm from GA and I work on computers constantly. I've used the voice-activated system countless times and it has NEVER misinterpreted a single number that I spoke. I'm born-and-raised in GA. You must have some severely exaggerated NY/Yankee accent 😉

oops didnt read OP properly

cant you press the number in anyways? you dont have to say it just type it in using the keypad? or have they done away with that?

I vaguely remember it being an option. However, I don't know why I would use a slow voice prompt if I had the option. I don't remember if the key is entirely numeric.

I live in southern Mississippi (born and raised) and I have used the automated voice system in the past without any problems. I believe my "southern accent" is probably much more "pronounced" than yours, seeing how you are from some fancy state like Georgia. The voice-activated system has never failed or even misinterpreted me at all. So, I think it should be damn near perfect.

BTW, the closest that I have ever lived to yankeeland was Jackson, MS. I only lived their for about 8 months before going back to them old cotton fields back home. I am untainted by fancy talk.😛

So, I agree, OP must have a very pronounced accent if that is the cause.

OP , cmon man , this just sounds ridiculous....buy a legit copy man! go to your local college and bribe a student to buy you a copy from the school , I got XP Pro for $22 and Office XP for $19...Students and employees of the school get discounts on it.
But the activation of XP can not be circumvented. It can be cracked. But then you no longer have access to updates from microsoft. If you have to re-activate , you can try the voice prompts...if that fails , you will be placed on the phone with a tech that can enter it for you. If you are legit , give it a minute , and be patient.

I did the phone activation last night after building my new rig and moving my license from my old machine to the new one. I called from my cell phone and was able to press the numbers of the installation ID in on the keypad rather than saying them. It said that the ID lookup failed and it connected me to a tech in a matter of seconds. I read him my installation ID and he read me back the confirmation thing. Took less than 5 minutes.

You can just use the keypad on your phone instead of saying them.

Unless you have a rotary phone..

😀

LOL. I was just about to post this. When she asks if you're calling to activate, press 1. She should ask one more question, press 1. Then she'll tell you to input the numbers. Just type them in on your phone, set by set. After each set though wait for her to say that it was accepted.

Are you crazy?!? if it wasnt legit, I wouldnt post it here...

My computer is OEM, built by Sony. Apparently there is something in the BIOS that activates windows, which was erased when I updated the BIOS flash.

I tried pressing in the numbers in keypad, it works all right - except that the phonesystem says that I should contact my reseller. It doesn't give me any tech to talk to.

Concerning the email I gave Microsoft, they just gave me one of their generic reply things, "Thank you for your question, we value your opinion greatly, you will recieve a reply as soon as possible..." When the reply came, it had NOTHING to do with the question I gave them.

Edit: By the way, what is op?

Microsoft's voice recognition software has always worked for me and never misinterpreted any of the numbers I read.

It's still faster just to type 'em in on the keypad though.

Never mind - problem reticified, found a nice little 'crack'.

Hey, even though the crack might be illegal, it's Sony's problem if Microsoft decides to complain about me using a pirated Windows.

You should not need a Crack if this is a Legit Paid For copy of Windows

Now on the other hand, if you want something to allow updates without
having to go thru the Windows Genuine Advantage crap ... that's another story
