hi guys,
i have recently switched from win me over to win2k pro and have found it so much better but i have a few query's that the very inadequet ms help were unable rectify.
firstly, when i use dvd appz or cd'rw progs they tell me that dma is not enabled for my drives and that this will increase performance so i should enable it. now this was an easy enough task in winme but how do i do it in win2k, i have looked throught device manager and properties etc. but have found no settings to enable dma, if anyone has any answers they are much appreciated.
secondly, my sisSandra tells me changing the role of my hard drive to file server will increase performance, so again i tried but couldn't find the option. any info on that is appreciated aswell.
onto another subject now. i have a few games i bought on cd which are cracked warez versions. to install them i have to run an msdos batch file which extracts the necessary files, this uses a file called alchemy ( i do not know or understand any part of the process but all i do know is that in win me when it ran alchemy the extraction process started but in win2k when it runs alchemy it just closes itself). now could this be an incompatibility issue or can i rectify it, and if so , how?
