Okay, I seem to be stumped here. I have a MSI Geforce 4 ti-4800 and am running a MSI 865-PE mobo as well. For awhile now when I boot up my computer i get blue vertical lines as the computer boots and then right before the windows loading screen there are dollar signs $ running across the screen. When I am in windows it is fine until I watch videos. When I am watching videos there are circles running up and down the screen on some parts. Up until now I haven't had time to really take a look at the problem. I recently reformatted my computer. I am trying to install video card drivers but all the forceware drivers seem to be crashing my computer or giving me total black screens. I am running xp service pack 2. I don't know what the problem is. If anyone can give me some help as to what the problem might be that would be great.

Try this driver for your video card. That is the newest version that supports the TI 4800. If that still doesn't work, try what cholley said as well.

If you are getting corrupt video even before Windows loads (is it happing on the BIOS/POST screen as well?) it could be a sign that the video card is failing.

Yeah, I was thinking that the video card could be failing as well. Just trying to get the most out of it. Don't want to invest in another AGP video card, the corruption is happening on the BIOS/POST screens. I will try those options and see if it works.

If it is happening at the BIOS screen, it is not a driver issue.

Your card is failing or overheating. Try reseating it and check the cooling fan.
