Plan is up so it is time to get a new phone. I am done going with the flagship stuff. I don't use my phone for anything but phone calls, texting, navigation, and sudoku. I am looking at the LG G2, HTC One Remix, and the LG G Vista.

I really want a phone with a good antenna. I am coming off an S3, which seems to really give me problems inside buildings. Other people with different HTC, Motorola, etc phones didn't seem to have the same issue. Battery life doesn't necessarily worry me too much, as long as I can get through a day with my limited usage.

I searched for reviews on these phones, and they all seem to get a similar grade. What I am interested in finding out are the negatives we all come up with when we actually get the phones. Like whether the GPS is accurate, etc.

TIA

They're not. Only the G2 is worth serious consideration in that bunch.

Moto always jacks up the transmit radio power, so you may want to look at the X or Droid Maxx.

Don't forget to look into whatever S5 Mini or S4 is like. Haven't used em but certainly sounds like Samsung has stepped it up with each release.

I went and looked at them today. The vista has a pretty nice screen for it only being 720p. I didn't notice any difference between it and the G2, and how they ran apps and stuff. I liked the HTC One, but it felt small. Do you know why the G2 would be preferable?

The maxx and the X felt cheap to me. Not ruling them out though.

I am done giving my money to Samsung. I have had the Epic, S2, and S3. Each one of them was a "step up".

Oh wait, you're buying subsidized? Thought you'd be using Swappa.

The G2 is a crazy bargain on Swappa but not really worth a subsidy. Heck, nothing but recent flagships are worth a subsidy... and not even those if you thereby lose unlimited.

How do I get an unsubsidized plan on Verizon? From what I could see, there was no option to bring your own device.

Pretty simple really, buy an unlocked CDMA phone that's compatible with their network. Tell them you want to activate that phone and disable the old phone unless you want to use it for a second line. Keep in mind that as far as I'm aware Verizon does not give any discounts for going with an unsubsidized phone. This will allow you to keep your unlimited data plan if you happen to have it otherwise the only benefit is avoiding a new contract.

Ahh ok. It would only help avoid a contract for me. Cause we are keeping our plan(which isn't unlimited, but we don't use a lot of data). We basically just want new phones without shelling out any money. So unless I can lower my monthly payment by getting a phone elsewhere, I am guessing I pay the subsidy no matter what.
