Okay, I know I should have asked this like a longgggggg time ago, cause its sorta old.

But I need help..
I'm running the following system:

Abit KT7a MB
Duron 750 CPU
256 MB PC133 Ram
V5500 Video Card

and I'm reading benchmark tests around the web, and I find I get no where
near the performance these people do. I play High Quality at 1024x768
with HSR 1 on, and I get aprox. 47.3 FPS on the new demo included in 1.27f

I have seen people get around 68 FPS+ on the same type of system but in demo001.dm3.

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
With the same config, and demo, at FSAA im getting 28.2 fps...

Not fun.

I'm assuming you're talking about Quake 3? Those numbers seem about right to me, but if you haven't already installed the Via 4-in-1 drivers, do so.

If you really want to get a higher framerate, chances are that you'll have to reduce some graphics options. Just for fun, try running at 800x600, vertex lighting, 16-bit textures / rendering, and dynamic lighting off. Sure, it won't look as good, but if you really want eye candy, play Unreal.

The demo included in 1.27 benchmarks a lot slower than demo001.dm3 with 1.17 and older did. It is also much more cpu dependent. It's a totally different demo, on a different map, benchmarked with an .exe that has had some pretty significant changes made, so this is no surprise.

It's pretty easy to temporarily revert your install to 1.17 if you want to confirm this, or you can tryQ3bench when they get a host for the download.
