Ok guys, I spend a lot of time at Harmony Central while I'm at work (the forums) since I can do my job with my eyes closed (Corporate Support). For some reason, the software we use to block adult pages, gambling, etc, has now started blocking "web chat". Obviously, this isn't the case, as I'm here, and every other forum under the sun. Just can't get to HC. SO... what can I do to get around this?

that's a tough one is your "web chat" using http or a port ?

if it uses a port your going to be SOL

can you not select another proxy. can you not just ask them to unblock that site.

This particular site in question is HTTP: based. Im in the process of trying to get it unblocked. My direct boss knew nothing about it to begin with... so she has to request the network admin unblock it. No problem, right?

Wrong. :(

Our network admin and my boss don't get along, so if theres a way he can legitmitly ignore her request (ie, unblocking a website that has nothing to do with work..), he will.

Here's what I did:

1. Got a secure certificate for my domain
2. Installed nph-proxy.cgi (http://www.jmarshall.com/tools/cgiproxy/
3. When I'm at work, I reference the IP address of my domain then the full path of nph-proxy.cgi (when can easily be configured to be called something else)

They can't read what I read
They can't block my name
They can't block by address because you can simply move web hosts

They can keycapture your system
They can fire you
