this is for World Lit class

QUESTION: one belief of existentialism is "no absolute" which enables modern man to find meaning in his life. explain this concept and how it applies to "the metamorphosis" , "no exit", and "the guest"

it seems like its saying: no absolutes = allows man to find meaning in life

but what we've been talking about in class is that... existentialism is how man has no meaning in life

well my friend says this. existentialists believe that without absolutes, man cant find meaning

Try to think of it as being handed an empty sack. With an empty sack you can put anything in that you want, or you can leave it empty. It's up to you. But if someone hands you a sack that's already full, then it only has in it what someone else wanted to put there.

So in a world with no absolutes, man can define his life with whatever kind of meaning he wants, or no meaning at all. If there were absolutes that we had to build our existences around then our lives would have whatever meaning that whoever came up with the absolutes wanted them to have.

I'm not familiar with "the metamorphosis", "no exit", or "the guest" so I can't help you there.
