I run Windows 10 64bit on several machines. Until yesterday I didn't experience this:

The address bar of my Chrome browser usually displays the thread URL, e.g.:

https: //forums.anandtech.com/threads/trump%E2%80%99s-brand-is-complete-caca.2589585/page-2#post-40411062

But on this particular machine is just says: forums.anandtech.com

If I left mouse click in the address bar, it shows the thread URL, but that's an extra step I don't want to have to make. When I'm into a thread the title of the thread is only visible in the address bar, so it's significant and helpful to not have to click the address bar to see it. Why am I having this issue on this one machine (suddenly)? What can I do to make Chrome behave here?

For what its worth, they did this to try to help people to know which site they were actually on.
Essentially, its to try to help fight scamming/phishing.

bank.com/blablabla shows bank.com

bank.blablabla.com/bank/realbank/notascam.thisisareallegitimatebankiswear.com shows blabla.com

if you bank from bank.com, you dont see bank.com .. you it should be be more evident that you are on a fake scammer site.
