need help with the 'Cooling After' cooling device

Hey.

Just got one of these off of Ebay. Wanted to be able to run my pump for a few minutes after shutdown.

But it doesnt seem to work. And I dont know if its dead, or me. My board doesnt have the WOL connector, so Im using the ATX adapter to power it. I have the in and out properly connected as well. The opnly thing I didnt connect was the LED connection. Is it neccessary to run the thing?

Oh, BTW, the manufacturer won't help. They act like they never made or sold the thing. So no help there.

Anyway, any thoughts would be helpful.
 
Is 'Cooling After" one of those things that is supposed to keep a fan (or some fans) running for a bit after power-down? Well it is unlikely that it will have enough oomph to run a water pump plus some fans. Remember, there is NO +12V after the system has powered down. All there is is one or two Amps of +5V-Standby and whatever the device manages to store locally while the system is up.
. What do they use for power collection on that device - a handful of super caps, a gel-cell battery?

ya. that is what it is. It uses either the power out of the WOL connector or an ATX bypass connector that gives you 5v after the system is shut down. The reviews I read said that it worked fine, for both fans and pumps. Just cant get mine to do anything. Might be dead.
 
It works for a pump RELAY and perhaps a fan or two (total load < 1A). Relays are low power devices which switch another high current circuit. Meaning the POWER for the pump is actually coming from another power supply or perhaps even AC.

tell that to the reviewers. I read more than one that used actual 12v pumps. I wouldnt have bought it otherwise.
 
I only read two reviews when I was looking for info and one of them (the only one that mentioned water cooling) said specifically "Pump Relay"... Who knows, there might be some pump motors out there than can get by on under an Amp.
