Need help with temps, not sure where they stand.

My stock E5200 is at 48C(Core0/Core1) in HWMonitor and 53C(Core0/Core1) in Speedfan while running Prime95, 39C and 44C while idle. Now looking at the Newegg reviews for my heatsink, I see tons of people bragging about their OC'd processors at <40C under load. Did I screw up the heatsink installation?

I have 1 120mm exhaust fan, and the 92 mm fan on the heatsink. I used Tuniq TX-2 thermal compound, about as much as half a pea. I keep my room fairly cool, usually around 70F.

Also, I have a 120mm intake fan, but don't have another system fan connection on the motherboard. How am I supposed to power the intake fan?

Thanks in advance. I'm just worried because I haven't built a computer in a few years, and the temps seem high compared to other's.

This is the heatsink I'm using:

Also, I had a Xigmatek S1283 installed and the temps were only about 3 degrees lower. I swapped it out because it was too big.

Since the CPU cooler's performance depends on the temperature of the air nside the case, likely you need more airflow through the case. To test this, remove the side panel and set up a house fan blowing into the case. If your temps drop, you meed more case airflow.
Hook the other fan to a spare 12v molex connector.
If you don't have soldering skills, there are adaptors available at pretty much any computer store.

Those temperatures sound perfectly normal to me. If you want to use the intake fan w/o using a motherboard header, you can get a molex to 3 pin connector http://www.amazon.com/3-Pin-In...r=1XY8KGJQH4A8A0RKKZ7H

I have a few that I get with buying fans and stuff, you might have one lying around if you keep old computer hardware.

As for those other posters with <40c under oc'd load, ask them how large their genitals are, because I bet they're all packing foot longs while idling.

Yeah, I found an adapter and hooked up the intake fan. It wasn't moving much air, so I put in a better one. My temps only changed by 1C.

It's good to read that those temps seem normal to you. I was considering reinstalling the heatsink, but I don't think I'll bother now.
