Need help with shower

We moved into our new condo last night and I found a problem with our shower. Its the kind where there is one lever and you turn it counter-clock wise to go from cold to hot. The problem is that if you turn it all the way to the hottest setting, the water is cold/warm-ish.

It is a new construction and the hot water works great in the rest of the place (even the bathroom sink). Does anyone know what could be causing this? If it is an easy fix I will do it myself but if not I will envoke the powers of my new home warranty. Thanks guys!

Leave it to the pros...could be a variety of things, from a simple adjustment, to a kinked piece of copper in the wall...

Yea, my guess would be a partially opened valve, or a smashed/kinked/blocked piece of copper. I wouldn't go messing with it yourself, especially considering it's new construction. That stuff should work 100%... if not, then take whatever steps you can to have someone else foot the bill.

BTW, didn't you check all of that stuff on your final inspection?

Yes, and even the developer has a person who does a walkthrough. I remember the water coming on and getting warm so I shut it off (I didn't wait for it to get HOT). Thought everything was ok at the time.

It might have a anti-scald mechanism that needs adjustment on the handle.

You were right! Took the handle off and there was a plastic disk with a stop on it. Took it out, turned it all the way to the left and put it back in. The handle now turns much farther and it gets very very hot now! Thanks!!!
