Need help with SDL sound on Linux

Well, it's day 4 of my LFS odyssey. I managed to get X installed yesterday, along with some of the most important libs and apps such as GTK, XMMS, and Mozilla.

For those curious, here's my desktop. 😀

Anyway, I tried to install SDL and a few games that use it today. Everything worked except for the sound. I got an error, but it's not exactly helpful:

SDL: Audio timeout - buggy audio driver? (disabled)
audio: Bad file descriptor
Advice?

Some specs:
Dual Pentium 3 667 @ 690
1664 MB RAM
GeForce3
YMF724-based soundcard

Linux Kernel 2.4.18-pre1
OSS driver for the soundcard
XFree86 4.2.0
SDL 1.2.3
SDL_mixer 1.2.2

Electrode try posting these questions on the LFS mailling lists... they are quite helpfull....
I think they are your best bet...

EDIT: When are you planning on getting a WM.... XFCE, IceWM or even BlackBox with be nice...

Thanks. I'll try asking there.

As for window managers, I planned on installing KDE after (read: if) I got ALSA working, as its aRts sound daemon doesn't agree with OSS for some reason. Not having much luck with that either though. 🙁
