Does anyone have this controller? I'm trying to use it to play Far Cry because the KBM is very uncomfortable for me. I programmed everything okay until it came to the left analog pad which I want to program to strafe and go forward and backwards while the right stick functions as the the look. After screwing around a bit, I finally got the right stick programmed as the mouse look. However, the left stick is proving to be a problem. I programmed the X and Y axes to left, right, up, down respectively, but due to the analog nature of the stick, when the stick returns to the center, there's a tendency for the software to interpret it as moving in another direction. It's hard to explain, but I'll try.

If I move the stick to the right and then let it go, the stick naturally returns to the center like it should. But then the software has a tendency to interpret that as a move to the left. It doesn't do this with the right stick. Am I programming it wrong?

I have this controller but I've never tried to use it for a FPS game. However, using it for madden, I found I needed to use the D-pad vice the left analog stick to move a player. Not really sure why, but it works fine in other EA sports games. Maybe try using the D-pad instead. Also have you tried with digital button on and off? I've found this makes a difference, but it depends on the particular game as to how it affects the controller.
BTW, how is using th KB/mouse uncomfortable? Are you lefthanded maybe?

I found a FPS profile on Saitek's website. I don't want to use the D-pad because I've already programmed that for like peeking and going prone. I hate using the KBM because there's a lot of switching and stuff that I can't do efficiently without a controller.

I had issues with the Saiteks because a lot of games without programmable axis are fvcked up. In Morrowind on a Saitek left/right on the right analog is look up and down

The right stick is easy because I just set it to do what the mouse does. However, the only problem I'm having is the damn left stick behaving like a d-pad where I go forward and backward and then strafe right and left.

When I get home tonight, I will try to program mine for a FPS game and see what happens. I will post my results.

Well I tried with HL2, but couldn't get it to do anything but move him around. Still had to use the mouse to aim and shoot. Tried CoD and it doesn't seem to have joystick option. As for FarCry, I have the game but it is not currently installed. I might try it this weekend and let you know, but I'm sorry I can't be of any real help now. :(

I have the Saitek P880. When I plug it in it turns on, lights and all. But the [digital] button can't be turned off. Then, the drivers can't detect it.

If this is revelant, I have a win. 7 64-bit

My opinion is that you should just use an Xbox 360 USB controller. Nearly all new games that are playable with a controller (read: first/third-person action games, platformers) automatically detect it and configure themselves to work like the console version.

EDIT: Learning to use a mouse and keyboard is also an option. It is pretty much required to be a part of the PC Master Race.
