OK first things first, so i dont forget...system specs:

p4 2.8c
asus p4p800
antec 350w ps
sapphire 9800 (bios modded to pro)
-Newest Omega drivers
SB audigy 2
corsair XMS 3200 ram (2x512)

OK, heres my problem:

When I go into raven shield, everything works fine, up until i actually go into the mission. It seems like it MIGHT have something to do with the change of resolution...im not sure if ive tried it at the same res. as my desktop (16x12). Either way, when i click on start mission, screen goes black, like its switching over, but it never goes into the game. I have figured out, that if i keep trying to alt tab or bring up the task manager via control alt del., it will eventaully bring me out to my desktop, bring up the task manager, and be fine. if i close the task manager, and go back into raven shield, the mission starts....

It seems to happen sometimes when im leaving a mission to go back to the menu as well...

I know it USED to work fine, but i cant think of what i changed. I'm thinking maybe its a driver issue? I tried uninstaling the omega drivers and installing the ATI ones, but it became a hassle, i cant remember why, so i just said forget it. If you guys think that would probably fix it then maybe ill spend some quality time with it, just wondering if theres anything else im forgetting.

Thanks a bunch

I always suggest driver issues on things like this. If you can plan your mission fine, but when it goes to start the mission, then it sounds like a driver issue. Your 2D is working fine, but when it tries the 3D, it shows nothing. Not sure why you can alt-tab out, then back in and it'll work though. Also, make sure you have completely updated your copy of Raven Shield as well.

I apologize because this isn't really going to help you much, but RS has been a very buggy game since day one. I've played it hardcore online with friends since it came out and they still haven't addressed many of the issues that plague the game. In my experience (and probably in the experience of my friends) the only reliable way to get the game to work once a problem crops up is to reinstall.

My point here is that you shouldn't try too hard to get the game to work properly, because it's far from perfect. It's a highly underrated game and one that I recommend to everyone, but it has issues.

I had a simular issue with RS with a 9500pro, however when I used my 4200ti it worked every single time. But I aggree it is a buggy game, but FUN :D.

I'm would guess that its either the moded VC BIOS, or just the game. Have you checked the games official forum?

Most times I have had a black screen problem its been either down to the filtering or frame effects.

Look in your advanced graphics menu of the game and switch off any filtering (e.g. bilinear, trilinear, etc) and see if that removes the problem. If it does then you can set your filtering up again step by step till you find the type that screws it.

These issues I have seen in farcry, UT2004, RTW and joint operations on friend's PC's who all have a slightly older gfx card (like yours - sorry :) ) and its been traced to filtering settings that your gfx card either doesnt support, or is badly written in the game
