okey so basically i fried a brand new Seasonic M-12 700watt (not my fault).

I wasnt happy when it fried and its already in the process of going though an RMA.

Anyhow my cousin offered to buy the PSU off me, and im thinkn of going PC and Cooling. However im not going after the 1000W watt version but more along the lines of there 750W Silencer version.

Will the 750W silencer be enough to handle:

2 8800GTX + QX6700 (Quadcore) + (i only have 1 8800GTX atm but i intend to get another within a few months)

Striker MB + 3 Raptors in Raid5 +

2 additional SATA 500Gig HDs +
2 Opticals +

3 DDC Liang Pumps and about 6-7 120mm Fans? EDIT: forgot the D5's are staying on my AMD and i have 3 DDC's going into my new machine.

The GTX's each reqire 2 PCI-E plugs so a total of 4, and that scares me. Ive been using 600W just to power 2 7900GT's in SLI at 1.5V, but im worried the 8800's will draw and require more power.

Oh and yes i do intend to Overclock the kentsfield as well as give it a voltage raise since my entire rig is on water

I would rather have the M12 personally but the 750 watt Silencer would be a fine choice also.

The PCP&C Silencer line is built by Seasonic fyi.

well the price difference between the 2 is 10 dollars. And this is honestly my 3rd modular that has crapped out on me. The first was a TT 0057W, which was raited a pretty efficient fluke on thermaltake's design. The second was a Enermax Liberty, this blew out also, and the last is the M12.

And no, theres nothing wrong with my power, the 0057 was my fault due to a bad ground in the house which we found out after the PSU blew.

And i dont like getting something after it fails, even given a fluke. Since PC n C is concidered the king of PSU,s im just wondering if a Zeus 850, or a Gamestream 850 a better choice?

and No i cant get a Zippy, because the PSU's i can get are limited to what frys carry. I got a GC from them which i kinda wanna use since i rarely pick up parts are frys.

The OCZ GameXStream (if thats how it's spelled) is based on the FSP Epsilon; it is a good unit but it's build quality is not up to par with Seasonic (or the Seasonic built PCP&C Silencer). It also has ripple issues as the load is increased; so no it's not better.

I think the Silverstone Zeus is built by Etasis, who are known for high-end workstation and sever class units so In many ways it is probably better then the Seasonic S12/M12 and PCP&C Silencer.

Operandi's right, the Zeus' are built by Etasis, so I highly recommend them if you don't mind the noise.

well that was one of the reasons why i went the seasonic to begin with. So no, id personally be okey with maybe a few more db higher then the seasonic, but not if it was a factor of 5

Made a little mistake on the ZEUS. The 850 is almost 80 dollars more then the PCnC. The one i mislooked at was the 750W.

Its cheaper then the PCnC and Seasonic. But will it rate as high?

This is the one you are looking at?

It should be exactly the same as the 850 watt model most likely smaller capacitors.

Any of the above PSU`s would be fine!!

You have a PM my friend!! Good Luck!!

* note* Just because a PSU is manufactured by a different compny does not mean that the company manufacturing the PSU has one of like quality and or workmanship...etc...

But it also does not mean that said company does not have a PSU that might be close.

Way too much FUD concerning well so and so makes so and so thus you should by a certain brand becuase they make the other brand of PSU.....

If you go to other forums and read up on the subject you will see that there is more to making a PSU than just contacting seasonic or whoever and signing a few papers.

It can be really involved to and including what brand of parts to use as well as sleeved or unsleeved cables...etc....etc...

Yet with that said....all the PSU`s mentioned so far in this thread there is not a bad one or a questionable one in the bunch!!

😀
