Need help with printer

I know my way around a PC but as far as a printer I have no idea. My mom has a Cannon 2110 and it prints out black just fine but when I print in color its kind of dim and there are white lines going across the pic all the way down. Anyone have any idea whats wrong? I tried to clean the nozzle and stuff with no luck and new ink cartridges.
