i am interested in buying a sander and a jigsaw for personal use. and some case mods. of course it's not specifically for case mods.

i am looking for some sites, or even magazine titles.

i am not made of money. i wanna see if it is possible to get something online. of course they are heavy so, shipping should suck. i've been browsing amazon.com. so don't laugh at me.

chances are i'll just drag my dad to home depot ;-)

Why get a jigsaw to mod your case...go for the gusto and get yourself a cuting torch ;)

If you want to mod your case, then try using a template & drill to cut out the shape that you need, then uses a corse file to clean the cut out.

Actually I've heard very very good things about the "rotozip" for casemods!

I saw an ad for a Black & Decker 12v cordless dealie that was a drill, jigsaw, and orbital sander in one. Pretty cool, but I'd never buy B&D! It might suit your needs though, and be cheaper than buying several tools.

Also, Home Depot has a sale going on for either a corded drill, jigsaw, or sander for under $20. Pretty good deal too, but I think they're B &D too. :(

I've had great luck with my Dremel. It's not quite as heavy duty as a single purpose tool, but as a multitool it's great.

The sale Werk is talking about applies to Skil tools. Nothing great, but then again nothing awful. If you only want to do the occasional case mod they would probably work ok. As for shipping, small jigsaws are pretty lightweight, only a pound or two (I have worked at Home Depot, they are pretty easy to carry up and down ladders). As for sanders, palm sanders are even lighter. Belt sanders are a little bigger and heavier but still only 5 pounds or so, pretty light.

Ah, they're skil huh? Eh, I lump them in with B&D. I'm still thinking about picking up one of the jigsaws for some light modding though. I mean under $20? If it burns out, I'll just buy another! :)

But what I really want is a sawzall...got one of those badboys at work, and man do I love it!

Yeah, I know, Skil, cheapo, but they sell ;) Mday, if you want something that'll last longer spend some more and get a DeWalt, Porter Cable, Milwaukee, or Bosch. All top of the line stuff. It'll be worth the money in the long run.

As for Sears...I know I'm biased, but Sears doesn't have as good as selection as HD (or Lowes for that matter, to be fair).

i used to go to sears every month, always go to the tool department. the selection pretty much blows... home depot, now that's selection. =)

but still, i need a website to learn about the stuff or a book, or magazine, d00dz.

i know about the brands already.

Ask the dudes at the tool department for some tips...if you are serious about buying they shouldn't have a problem showing you a little about the tools. And if they refuse to let you try them out, they're assholes ;)
