Currently, I have no sound card in my computer, because it is not compatible with windows 2000. But, I do have a cd burner on my computer. When I put an audio cd in the burner and put hooked up my speakers to the sound port connected to the burner the sound worked for the cd. I was wondering if there was any way i could tell windows to use the sound port from the cd burner as the sound card for the computer?

Buy a cheap new one that is supported by win2k.
Unless of course you're into music production.

1) What soundcard do you have

2) Your cdrw is not a soundcard. It will only play cd audio.

Try running a cable from the headphone jack on the burner to the input on an amplifier. This will undoubtedly work, but I don't know about quality. Also, you might have to make your own cable.

Oh, and you'll need some speakers.

It would probably be easier to pay $5-$10 for a cheap piece of cr@p sound card.
