hi all,

a question some of you might be able to help with. I am moving all my components into a supermicro 2U case. I've got a s2460 mb (tyan dual athlon, amd mp not mpx), a couple athlon 1.2 ghz cpus, and ram. in addition to this, I obviously want a nic and video card. so I've got a 3com 3c905 card and an older pci video card.

the videocard works fine in the riser on its own, but if I put in the 3com I can't get it to post. I also tried a linksys pci nic I have and it still won't post. anyone have any ideas? is it the video card that isn't happy unless it's by itself?

really don't want to have to get a new motherboard, and have to have a nic in this box! any suggestions would be much appreciated...

thanks,
Wes

Welcome to the forums! It seems, like you guessed, that the video card wants to be by itself. See if you can't get your hands on a different video card just to try that angle out. If you must have that video card, perhaps you can use USB for networking. From the board specs, it doesn't look like it was designed for a 2U case. (Anand Review)
