So I recently updated my defective (chipset fan broke) a8v-e deluxe mobo (via chipset) with an msi k8n neo4-f motherboard (nforce4 chipset). I used to be able to get ~60 fps on high detail with battlefield 1942: forgotten hope mod. Now with the upgrade, I average about 50 with some details turned off and it really slows down when there's a lot going on.

I've had the same hardware between both boards.

Athlon64 3200+ (oc'd to 2.2ghz, i just overclocked it on this motherboard, it was running stock on the old one)
Kingston 1gb dual channal ram pc3200
x850 pro 256mb card (oc'd a bit)

I was under the impression that the nforce board was strides above via in terms of game performance, but I haven't seen it yet.

Please help! Much thanks!

You're actually better off posting it here, because Technical Support is barren ;). I think the problem was caused by drivers being screwy. Reinstall all your drivers (especially your video card one). Changing your motherboard like that wll REALLY not make any difference.

Well, I formatted my drive like a good boy when I got the new mobo, but I only did a quick format I think. I'm not really sure if that will do anything though. I've already reinstalled the chipset drivers and the video drivers a couple times. I was using the chipset drivers off the cd for the first day, and that was REALLY bad (like 3-4 fps). I installed the 6.66 (or whatever) and they really improved performance, but not up to where I'd like to see it.

trying going back to stock on your CPU?
sometimes a overclocked CPU gives minor errors that doesn't halt the system but slow down the system.

Okay, I think I've figured out the problem. It seems my cpu multiplier resets to 5x when it enters windows, even though I've set it at 9x
