:frown: Just put together my new computer and ran into my first snag! I purchased the Windows ME upgrade (previous computer had Win95) and I cant seem to find a CDRom prompt to "setup" Windows. My drive is already formated and partitioned (c,b,d,e) so I assumed f or g would be my CDROM drive. But nothing! Bios seems to recognize the drive and there wasn't any disks that came with the drive. Anyone have any ideas how I can get Windows installed?

P.S. This is my first complete system I have put together.

Did you boot w/cdrom support?
You have to do that and G will probably be your cdrom drive because F will probably be your ramdrive.

Not quite sure how I would do that! I tried changing cdrom to boot first in Bios but when I would restart it said the usual Non System Disk. by the way I have an Abit KT7Raid if that helps. Any ideas?

so are you using a win 98 boot disk or are you using a bootable cd rom? If your system is having trouble booting from cd-rom, use a win98 boot disk, im guessing if you were able to fdisk and format your drive you have access to a dos prompt somehow? If your using a boot disk does it have the option to boot with cd-rom support and if you are booting with cd rom support are the drivers initializing and finding a compatable device? Watch the bootup output and you should see this info. Provide as much about your situation if you plan to get any help here hardware troubleshooting is hard enough without the guessing. :)

I am using a start up disk I made in Windows95. Thats what MS instructions say to do. I dont think the WinME upgrade CDROM is bootable.

I'll e-mail you the files, just put them on a disk.

Edit: If you have an e-mail address anyway....
