just removed a tdk burner and replaced it with a dvd burner and nero wont let me burn with it but nero express recognizes it and lets me burn....i uninstalled it and reinstalled it a couple of times, i have 2 different copies from previous burners and each time i install and update to the latest version nero burning rom says it only supports tdk players. one copy came with a tdk player and one didnt, but nero express recognizes it fine....also i see an option to erase cdr but no option for erase dvd....are they the same thing

Obviously, the Nero that came with the TDK is just going to work for that burner. I had the same issue before and realized that. But for the full version of that is odd. What I would try is uninstalling anything that has to do with Nero, including InCD. Then use a registry cleaner to get all the Nero stuff out and then reinstall the full verison.

IF you recieved the copy of nero with the TDK drive, you may have a problem. At some point nero starting making their software drive brand specific when it started getting packaged with CDRW's. Basically, it would only work with the drive it came with, or another drive of that brand. They are trying to keep you from putting Nero on every pc with a burner, seeing as you haven't paid them to allow yourself to do that.

You have to pay to unlock the full, any brand drive version of nero. Currently you have a full version, but its locked int TDK only.
