OK i went out to BB and bought one of those Samsung 48x16x48 (SW 248B)burners with the rebate. After i get it all hooked up, the fastest it says it can burn is 32x.... Im running Windows XP. I downloaded the latest version of Nero so that it would recognize the burner. Still, it only says it can burn at 32x and thats only sometimes. Then when i try to burn anything over 8x i get buffer underruns. I have a AMD Athlond 550mhz, 684mb ram. I have the buffer set at the highest.(think its 84mb) and i still get underruns. Anyone have a solution to the problem?

Did you try adjusting teh settings in the program? You can change the speed at which it burns..

Did you enable burn proof? (for the buffer underrun errors).

Also, try Easy cd creator to check if it does the same thing. If so, you might want to call their tech support. You might need to flash the firmware.

Make sure dma is turned on, it usually is. Make sure it is set right in your bios. Is it ide0 slave or ide1 master or slave? What other ide devices do you have hooked up?
