Need Help with my Hard Disk

Well i have a Fujitsu 40Gig HDD and it is now saying that it is in RAW mode and there is 0Bytes on the drive.

has this FAILED? or do i need 2 format with FAT32/NTFS to get the file system back?

the model number is MPG3409AH

i know that Fujitsu recalled loads of HDD but i dont think that this one was in that Batch .

it says it when i go in my computer and right click properties

This just suddenly happened? I mean, your HDD was working fine before that? Or is this a new unformatted HDD?

If not, is your OS and applications on this HDD? I guess not, since otherwise you won't even be able to boot up?

well i left PC on for a few days, then came back and it was all slow n laggy (win XP) so restarted.

it got half way and then said that windows/system/system32 could not be read and it was corrupt. so i lent me mates HDD 2 back everything up i started loading (win XP on mates HDD) it loaded and then scaned my HDD and found UNREADABLE sections on the disk. there was a big long list of unreadalbes. so i thought i had best back up. so i got in to windows and double clicked on my HDD and it sed summ like "Cannot Access Disk it is Corrupt" i went on to properties and it was in RAW mode and reading 0Bytes. so i was slightly :S

Only thing I can think to do is to format and reinstall windows.

thnx to u both! but i really dont wanna do a format isnt there any Apps that can recover lost files? well i am gonna have to format one day as i am gonna send it back to Fujitsu to get a Replacement but i want all of the stuff on there b4 i do that (Y DIDNT I LISTEN TO PPL AND BACK IT ALL UP :'( )
