Need help with my fist new monitor purchase.

Hi guys, I have a problem and i was hoping you guys could give me some ideas here. Anyway, ive had my 19" Dell monitor for 6 years now and its done me just fine. Its the only thing that has been part of my setup over the years that doesnt get an annual upgrade. Games still look great on it and it doesnt hurt my eyes with 1152x864 which im currently on with 85hrz...

anyway, I think its time for a new monitor though. Ive read the debates over the years about CRT being better then LCD for gaming unless i have been misinformed. An LCD would look very nice, but I was looking at getting around a 20"-22" monitor and cant really afford a big lcd like that one. However a nce viewsonic or something else in a larger CRT would be great. Like I said, my 19" has done me just fine, but I would certainly like to play some new games on a much bigger screen, or at least noticeably bigger...any ideas guys? Thanks

I still choose CRT over LCD.Dead pixels.The ms time on LCD doesnt impress me

Stay away from viewsonic is my advice. I've had nothing but trouble from their 21" CRT.

Gaming on an LCD isnt that bad IMO. I have the Samsung 213T and got it under 0 pixel defects agreement from monitoroutlet.com. There is one other place that has such agreements but i cant remember what it is. You pay an extra 50-100$ for the display though in the end.

Samsung 993 CRT is around 200$ and is pretty nice 19" monitor. 1600x1200 @ 75hz or 1280x1024 @ 85hz.

If you want a really nice CRT, 22" Nec/mistubishi - the best consumer level CRT.

(On another level would be brands like Iiyama)

They only differ by the name printed on the front, and they are the best no compromise gaming monitors you can buy(2048x1536@85Hz- so sweeet ). How much are you looking to spend?

That would put the NEC/Mitsu models out of your price range. The monitors I was talking about range around $630-$700 shipped. Perhaps the Samsung 1100DF? I have no experience with it, but it by the specs it looks to be a solid 21" monitor that you can pick up for under $500.

Paid 200 for my NEC 1250 Refurb...look around for them...great monitors at stupid prices
