I installed AGP Driver and IDE Driver and i have some problems. I have Fast Writes not supported and when i did Sandra File System Benchmark, i got only 13000 Drive Index with Maxtor 7200 rpm ATA/133 40 GB HDD. I will welcome any help.

Excellent point. I think that sometimes we power users get a bit too wrapped up in benchmarks. Remember, Sandra is totally synthetic and doesn't measure real world speed.;)

Is your hardrive running by itself (on it's own ide port) or with something else? Other secondary or slave devices can slow it down. Sandra may not detect fast writes enabled, even with enabled in the bios.

I just ran this bench and got only 8000, getting worried. With a seagate barrucuda IV 40gb 7.2rpm @ ata100, i was shocked. I always felt that my hdd performance was slow. Oh well.

I have my my HDD on its own IDE channel. But there is other BAD thing about my mobo:

When I set FSB higher than 125 MHz and restart, computer turn monitor in suspend mode and I can't do anything. It also blocks power and reset buttons, so i must unplug it and reser CMOS !! Anyone knows where is the problem ?

Same mobo here with a 40gb Quantum Fireball 7200rpm.

I get 21003 with 32bit tranfer mode ON in the bios.
And 20099 with 32bit transfer mode off in the bios.

I have my drive on its own ide channel. (ide1, primary master)

Questions
1: Are you using a ATA133 cable?

2: In device manager under IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers/Primary IDE Channel/Advanced Settings
Is tranfer mode set to DMA if Available?

3: Under Current Transfer mode mine says UDMA Mode5... does yours says youre in UDMA Mode??

Time Set Correctly Upon first POST and after each BIOS Flash

Date Set Correctly Upon first POST and after each BIOS Flash

Primary IDE Master
Type AUTO
32Bit transfer Mode ON

Primary IDE Slave
Type AUTO
32 Bit Transfer Mode ON

Secondary IDE Master

Type **CDROM ** (If using a HDD or no drive set to AUTO If using a CD/DVD drive set to CDROM)

32 Bit Transfer Mode ON
***THe above recommendation for Secondary Master is different from the other channels to directly work around a bug in the BIOS Please follow the above instructions closely For more information, see my first reply in this thread http://www.amdmb.com/vb/showthread....threadid=124773 ***

Secondary IDE Slave
Type AUTO
32 Bit Transfer Mode ON

Floppy Drive A Set Appropriately

Floppy Drive B Not Installed (for most people)

Boot Sector Virus Protection Disabled ? If you really want to use this feature make sure its at least disabled during partitioning, formatting and loading of the OS

===================
Advanced BIOS Features
===================

Quick Boot Enabled

Full Screen Logo Show Disabled

Boot Sequence
---------------------
1st Boot Device Floppy
2nd Boot Device CDROM/DVD whatever you use
3rd Boot Device IDE 0 (set at IDE0 for non RAID OS, and for RAID OS where a regular IDE hard drive exists also ? If all you have for hard drives is a RAID array, set this option to Disabled)
Try Other Boot Devices Yes

S.M.A.R.T. for Hard Disks Disabled

BootUp Num-Lock On

Floppy Drive Swap Disabled

Floppy Drive Seek Disabled

Primary Display VGA/EGA

Password Check Setup

Boot to OS/2 No

Internal Cache WriteBack

System BIOS Cacheable Disabled

C000,32k Shadow Disabled

APIC Function Enabled ("Enabled" functions well on this board under Windows 2000 and XP and with most newer hardware PCI cards and drivers.
If you are using Windows 9x/Me or TV tuner cards or winmodems or extremely old PCI cards/drivers set to "Disabled"
If you change this setting after Windows has been loaded you may need to reinstall the OS)

MPS Table Version 1.4

=======================
Advanced Chipset Features
=======================

DRAM Timing Control
-------------------------------
Current Host Clock Displays current FSB Frequency

Configure SDRAM Timing By SPD (Set to User later if trying more aggressive RAM timings)

SDRAM frequency HCLK for PC2100 HCLK+33 for PC2700 and higher. If you plan on overclcoking the FSB or use extremely aggressive RAM timings this may need to be set at HCLK)

SDRAM CAS# Latency 2.5 (setting to 2 gives faster performance)

Row Precharge Time 3T (setting to 2 gives faster performance)

RAS Pulse Width 6T (setting to 5 gives faster performance ? if RAM becomes unstable this is the first timing to lower back to default)

RAS to CAS Delay 3T (setting to 2T gives faster performance)

SDRAM Bank Interleave Disabled (setting to enabled gives Faster Performance ? If RAM becomes unstable this is the second setting to return to default)

SDRAM Burst Length 4QW (8QW should theoretically be faster but on many MSI boards is slower?still testing this setting)

SDRAM 1T Command Disabled (only experienced overclockers or people with low densities of RAM should ever set this to Enabled)

Fast Command Fast (start here and if Windows installs stable set to Ultra. If you use aggressive RAM timings you may need to return this to default/Normal)

AGP timing Control
--------------------------------
AGP Mode Auto

AGP Comp. Driving Auto (If you have problems with your graphics card or crashing out of 3D Games, this setting may need adjusted. If you have never used this feature before seek help in the forum)

Manual AGP Comp. driving same as above

AGP Fast Write Disabled (theres no reasonable basis to enable this)

AGP Aperture Size 64 or 128 (higher settings can cause compatibility problems with some software)

AGP Master 1 W/S Write Disabled (Enabled theoretically should be faster but is not on many MSI motherboards)

AGP Master 1 W/S Read Disabled (Enabled theoretically should be faster but is not on many MSI motherboards)

AGP Read Synchronization Disabled

PCI Delay Transaction Disabled

Uhla, update your bios to fix that problem where u can't reboot if u set your fsb too high. And as for my slow ide performance, i have a seagate barrucada IV 7200 rpm 40gb on a ata100 standard ribbon cable on dma mode 5 on the primary ide channel as the master drive, with no other drives on that channel. Can anyone help?
