Need help with Motherboard choice

Hi to all. Just joined forum after a long time of just browsing. I am in need of some helpful advice. I have a old Pentium 4 2.4 GHz( socket 478) and a motherboard which is failing slowly but surely. Since I don't have a lot of money I would like to keep the CPU and the Memory as well as the hard disks. I have been looking at these two boards:

Yes i still have an AGP video card and no I can't buy the newer ones. I went over to
Intel's site and found that my CPU is not HT enabled, but will it work with the new board?
I figure that all these manufacturers make things backward compatible, but you never know. If any of you have some better ideas please share. Thanks.

Welcome to AT.

As you might already know from browsing, this is definitely a pro AMD board. If you just need a new MB as a stop gap solution, then I would go with the MSI board. Both boards you listed are decent inexpensive boards tht should get you by until you are ready for a complete new AMD system.

Thank you Ike0069. I know AMD rules here, but for now this stop gap IS all I can afford.
